Letter from Megan with a Plan

March 23, 2020

Hello to all of our tenants - business and residential!  How is everyone hanging in during this strange new reality?!  I go between anxious, nervous, disbelief, and on and on. I think the biggest problem for me is the uncertainty of a timeline.  When will we get back to “normal”?  I think about all of you all of the time too.  How are your businesses fairing?  Have you had hours cut or lost your job due to COVID19?  Which leads me to our plan.  Is it set in stone and perfect? - nope - but it’s a start.  This is our plan on how to work with our residents and businesses affected by the COVID19 outbreak and its negative consequences.

Rent is still due.  I believe where you live and house your business is an important expense to prioritize during a crisis.  That being said, there are programs for businesses available, programs for employees who have lost hours, and we are willing to think creatively with you.  We are not interested in negatively affecting anyone’s business or lead to anyone losing their home.  We have set up a plan so we are all on the same page and we can communicate to our bank what percentage of our tenants have been affected by COVID19 to the point where paying their rent has been compromised.

FIRST - Check out the COVID 19 Resources page on our website - www.slatecreekproperties.com   I’m constantly updating information as I find it.

SECOND - Contact me directly so we can talk about what kind of documentation we’ll need to set up modifications.  You can call me at 605.252.9141 or email me at slatecreek135@gmail.com

THIRD - Reach out to the resources available!  I know this takes extra effort on all of our parts, but the quicker you are in touch with your employer on unemployment options, or the SBA to start the disaster loan process the better!  We must all step up and advocate for ourselves and I do believe we will come out more prepared and in more control on the other side.

FOURTH - Have patience with this new process.  I am doing everything I can think of to be prepared for what’s coming for all of us.  I’m also open to suggestions if you have an idea I have not thought of!

Your partner in this chaos,

Megan with Slate Creek
